Ewen Bramble - `Cello

Ewen began learning the cello at age six. He completed his high school education in 2002 as both Music and School Captain of Huntingtower School. During these years he studied with Cordula Neil, won first prizes in the Dandenong and Waverley Eisteddfods and was awarded the AMusA and LMusA diplomas.

In the following years Ewen completed a Bachelor of Music Performance with Honours at the University of Melbourne. During this time he studied with Nelson Cooke, Christian Wojtowicz and Janis Laurs, with whom he still studies with today. At the University he performed for Li Wei Qin, appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in the Monday Lunch-hour concert series, won the University’s Chamber Music Competition, and received the Opera Australia award in the Faculty Concerto Competition.

He has toured nationally and internationally with various ensembles, most recently the Australian Youth Orchestra on its 2007 European Tour. In 2006 he performed Elgar's Cello Concerto with the Victorian Youth Orchestra.

In 2007 Ewen is continuing his Masters of Music Performance at the University of Melbourne and is an Australian Postgraduate Award recipient. He appears regularly as a casual musician in the Melbourne and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras and with the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra.
